Shopping Andorra

Though small, Andorra is a shopping paradise yet to discover. Here you can find a distinctive range of products and interesting deals. The VAT rate is one of the lowest in Europe which positively affects prices, especially on alcohol, electronics and clothes.

Starting in December, winter sales entice shopping lovers until March. In addition to it, in summer too, the Catalan word “Rebaixes” (meaning “sale”) is what to look for. It opens up a broad scope of sales where you get to enjoy great discounts between July and September. Whether you are looking for sporting equipment, clothes, jewellery or electronics, Andorra has got it all.

Shopping Andorra: Where to go

Illa Carlemany Shopping Centre in Escaldes-Engordany is the most prominent shopping mall of the country. It opens throughout the year which is particularly convenient not only for locals but also for tourists who get to enjoy the Andorran shopping experience no matter when they are traveling. Just a short drive from Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra la Vella also renders locals and visitors with many shops well suited with fashion and beauty products.

Whoever favours brands like LEVI’S, DIESEL, GUESS. Hugo Boss or LA MARTINA will love the Outlet stores from „Via Moda“ in Andorra la Vella and  Escaldes-Engordany. You might even get up to 80 % discounts on trousers, luxury shirts, coats and other designer clothes. Interested? Then watch out for the name „OUTLET Factory“ and „OUTLET Now“. Beside these outlet shops, you might also regard „Mango Outlet“ situated in Andorra la Vella. Generally, it is easy to come across great shopping opportunities while traveling through the country. For shoes you may want to visit the „Outlet Sempre Moda“ in Pas de la Cas. Here you can find great bargains on footwear from internationally renowned brands.

Since Andorra is a paradise for ski-lovers, you can find shops with ski equipment all over the country. Prepare for some special deals on winter products after the end of the skiing season. Most shops sell off last season’s sport clothes and discounts range from 20 – 50% on popular brands as “The North Face”, “Adidas” or “Dynastar”, just to mention a few. There are also great sales on hiking equipment, tents and other outdoor products. Due to the size of the principality, sport equipment shops are quickly accessible regardless of your location.

Opening hours and more

Malls and supermarkets usually open up from 10.00 to 21.00 every day. And there are only four official days off: 1st of January, 14th of March, 8th of September and the 25th of December. Smaller shops open from Monday to Saturday and usually close around Andorran lunch time (14.00 to 16.00).

Talking about lunch, when you feel tired of shopping you may enjoy a great gastronomical experience in The Marquet Gourmeterie in Escaldes-Engordany. It features a wine cellar displaying some of the most prestigious wines worldwide. In like manner, the delicatessen store offers exactly the same products used to prepare the meals featured by the restaurant. The concept of the cuisine is to serve fresh and good quality products, manipulated as little as possible. And while on the topic, prices on liquor are some of the lowest I have seen around the world.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to hit the shops in Andorra!
